My PC started shutting down unexpectedly over the weekend. At first I thought it was related to one game, but it happened again while playing Monster Hunter, so I'm not sure the game is the cause. The shutdowns are sudden, with no warning or blue screen.
Event Viewer shows the same group of reports repeating roughly every 30 minutes, although they don't always lead to a shutdown. I've already tried several troubleshooting steps, including the fixes shown in a guide I followed, but the problem continues.
The system has a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM. The logs include VSS errors 8193 and 13, plus System events 6008 and critical event 41 after the shutdowns. What should I check next to identify the actual cause?

Make sure you’re focusing on Error and Critical entries rather than the routine Information logs. Event 6008 and Kernel-Power 41 generally only confirm that Windows detected an improper shutdown; they usually don’t identify what caused it. The VSS errors may be unrelated as well. Check the logs immediately before the shutdown for a specific driver, hardware, temperature, power, or bug-check error. If there’s no useful entry, the next practical checks are CPU/GPU temperatures, power connections and PSU capacity, graphics drivers, and stability testing outside the games.
The only actual errors I’m seeing before the shutdown are VSS 8193 and 13. The System log then shows 6008 and critical 41, but I understand those mainly indicate that the computer didn’t shut down cleanly rather than explaining why.
