I'm putting together a new gaming PC in the United States with a budget of around $3,000. I definitely want to use a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Radeon RX 9070 XT, but I'm not sure which motherboard, cooler, memory, storage, power supply, and case would make the most sense. I already have a 1440p monitor, and I don't need a mouse or keyboard. I mainly play Marvel Rivals, Red Dead Redemption 2, Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, and GTA IV and V. For the case and components, I prefer a low-profile black look rather than a white or flashy build.

One example build would be the 9800X3D, RX 9070 XT, a midrange Wi-Fi AM5 board, 32GB DDR5-6000, a 2TB NVMe SSD, an 850W Gold modular PSU, and an airflow-focused black mid-tower case. That should come in well below the budget. Be careful when comparing parts lists, though—some listings have unusually inflated memory prices, so check several retailers before buying.
For cooling, a quality large air cooler should handle the 9800X3D, and a 240mm or 280mm liquid cooler would also be fine if you prefer that appearance. A 360mm radiator isn’t necessary for this chip. Choose a case with strong front-to-back airflow and enough clearance for the graphics card, then keep the rest of the build understated with black components.
For a gaming-focused build, the 9800X3D and 9070 XT are already more than enough for 1440p. I’d pair them with 32GB of DDR5, ideally a 6000 MT/s kit around CL30 or CL32, a reliable 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and a good 850W fully modular power supply. You don’t need to spend the entire $3,000 budget; putting the extra money toward storage or keeping it for future upgrades would be more useful than buying unnecessarily expensive parts.
A sensible parts list would use an AM5 B850 or B650 motherboard with Wi-Fi, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a 2TB NVMe drive, and a quality 850W Gold-rated PSU. A 1000W unit will work, but it’s generally excessive for a 9070 XT unless you already have a specific future upgrade in mind. Make sure the power supply is from a reputable model line rather than choosing only by wattage.
DDR5-6000 is a good target for AM5. CL30 is ideal if the price is reasonable, but CL32 is usually close enough in real-world gaming that it can be the better value.
