I was watching YouTube in bed and then closed my Dell Vostro 7510 for the night. I thought I had shut it down, but the fans continued running at full speed until I fell asleep. By morning the fans had stopped, presumably because the battery was completely drained. I plugged in the laptop and tried the power button, but nothing happens. The machine is otherwise stock except for a RAM upgrade from 16 GB to 32 GB a few years ago, and it runs Windows 11. What should I try to get it powered on again?

It may not have fully shut down and could have remained in sleep mode until the battery ran out. Leave it connected to the correct Dell charger on a hard, flat surface for a few hours before trying again. Also check that the adapter is firmly connected and that its charging indicator, if present, is working. Avoid charging it on a bed because blankets can block the vents and cause excess heat.
Try a power reset. Disconnect the charger, and if the battery can be removed, take it out for several minutes. Then reconnect the battery and charger and try powering it on again. Since this model has an internal battery, you may need to remove the bottom cover to disconnect it. While you have it open, cleaning dust from the fans and vents would also be worthwhile, but make sure the charger is disconnected first.
I’ve been meaning to remove the bottom cover to clean the fans, so I’ll try disconnecting the battery while I’m in there.

I held the power button down until the laptop turned off. Is that not enough to shut it down completely?
