I'm considering a CPU upgrade but want to keep my existing 32GB of DDR4 memory. My current system has an Intel i5-12600KF and an ASUS B760 motherboard. Would it make sense to keep the board and move to a faster compatible CPU, or is there a worthwhile DDR4-compatible Intel or AMD platform that would justify replacing the motherboard too? I don't want to spend a lot for only a minor improvement. If you upgraded from a 12600KF, was the difference noticeable in gaming, everyday use, or productivity? Or would it be smarter to keep this system for a while longer?

I wouldn’t switch to another DDR4 platform just for this upgrade. A new AMD motherboard and CPU would add cost, and the total performance gain probably wouldn’t justify replacing a still-capable 12600KF system. I’d upgrade the graphics card first if gaming performance is the goal, then consider a platform change later when you’re ready to move to newer memory as well.
For gaming, I’d probably keep the 12600KF unless you’re chasing very high frame rates at 1080p with a powerful graphics card. At 1440p or higher, most systems become GPU-limited, so a CPU upgrade may barely change anything. The 14600K is faster, but the improvement is fairly modest for the money.
