I'm trying to decide between a refurbished 4080 non for $900 or a new 5070 Ti, which are priced similarly at around $900 to $1000. The 4080 generally outperforms the 5070 Ti in most benchmarks, but I'm questioning whether the 5070 Ti might be more 'future-proof,' considering it's newer technology. Would I regret not choosing the 5070 Ti for future game performance despite its slightly lower benchmarks? I really wish the 5080 or 9070 Xt were available at MSRP instead!

I'd say definitely go for the new card! You won't regret it in terms of features and performance.
If you want to go with the 5070 Ti, you could get pretty close to 5080 performance with just a slight overclock. Just keep in mind you could do the same with the 5080 too!
True! It's not like overclocking is exclusive to one card.
Honestly, the new 5070 Ti is a no-brainer! It comes with better features that make it worth considering over a refurb 4080.
It sounds like a refurbished powerhouse vs. a fresh new card. Personally, I'd lean towards the 5070 Ti for the GDDR7 memory and new architecture. While the 4080 seems to win on benchmarks right now, the 5070 Ti will likely be better supported as games progress, making it technically more future-proof.
But remember, DLSS 4 is actually available on all RTX cards, so it's not just a 5070 Ti bonus!
I’d seriously recommend the 5070 Ti; it’s newer tech and the performance is similar enough to pick the latest hardware. Plus, warranties on new cards are usually better!
Exactly! Overclocking is something you can do with both, so it feels like a toss-up.
