Can I Mix 64GB and 32GB RAM in My System?

I'm currently running a system with 32GB of DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM, which works fine for my video editing needs, but I've recently purchased an additional 64GB DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM. My motherboard can handle up to 256GB, so I'm considering installing all 4 sticks to get a total of 96GB. Since the speeds match, is there any reason I shouldn't do this, or will it create issues?

Mixing RAM like that on an AMD system can introduce complications, especially due to the weaker memory controller. If you go for it, be prepared to accept potentially not hitting 6000MHz speeds, with a possible drop to around 5600MHz or lower. It's a trade-off for that increased capacity.

You can certainly try mixing the two RAM sets, but keep in mind that while they might boot up, they likely won’t run at full advertised speeds. It's possible the system will force a lower speed to accommodate all the sticks. Just make sure to test it thoroughly after you install!

Exactly! Just run MemTest86 after booting to check for any stability issues.

Running four sticks of DDR5, especially mixed brands or kits, can lead to stability problems. You might find yourself needing to lower the speed to keep everything running smoothly. Some folks suggest just using the 64GB and selling your 32GB kit. I'd recommend going that route for better reliability.

True, it's safer to stick with matched pairs for smooth operation.
