I'm choosing between the MSI B550M-A PRO, MSI B550M PRO-VDH, and Gigabyte B550M DS3H. I'm mainly comparing VRM quality, VRM cooling, and whether the board can provide enough power for a Ryzen 5 5600 now and possibly an X3D processor a few years from now. Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth aren't important to me. Which board would be the best overall choice?

The MSI B550M PRO-VDH is generally the strongest pick of these three. Its VRM cooling is better than the B550M-A PRO, and it should comfortably handle a Ryzen 5 5600 as well as a future AM4 X3D chip. It’s a good choice if the prices are close.
I’d go with the PRO-VDH. The VRMs and heatsinks are adequate, and it has reasonable memory support. It should run the 5600 without any trouble and leave enough headroom for a later upgrade. You can also compare the boards using a detailed motherboard VRM chart before buying.
For this processor lineup, all three boards should provide enough power, but they aren’t equally well equipped. The PRO-VDH is the safest overall option because of its better VRM thermal performance. The DS3H can also work, especially if it is noticeably cheaper, while the B550M-A PRO would be my last choice for a future high-power upgrade.
