I have an older LG television that I currently use only for playing Nintendo Switch. I would like to use it for streaming Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, but I don't know much about this kind of equipment. What inexpensive device could I connect to the TV? I'm in the Netherlands, if that affects which services or devices are available. I'm mainly interested in streaming rather than a large selection of traditional TV channels.

Chromecast with Google TV, an Amazon Fire TV Stick, or a Roku device should all work. They connect through HDMI and include apps such as Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video. Chromecast may be especially convenient if you use an Android phone, while Apple TV tends to integrate best with Apple devices.
These devices are mainly for internet streaming, so you’ll need a reliable internet connection and subscriptions for paid services. They won’t automatically provide regular broadcast channels. For those, you would need a supported streaming service, an antenna, or a separate television subscription. Roku or Google TV are probably the best budget-friendly starting points.
A Roku streaming stick would be a simple, relatively inexpensive option. Plug it into an HDMI port on the TV, connect it to your home Wi-Fi, and install the apps you want. Just check that your specific model supports the services available in the Netherlands.
The important thing is having an HDMI input, not how old the television is. If the TV only has older red, white, and yellow composite inputs, you would need an adapter or a different solution.
