Is the Ryzen 7 7800X3D bundle a good match for my Sapphire 9070 XT Nitro+?

I recently bought a Sapphire 9070 XT Nitro+ on impulse and am now planning the rest of my first PC build. I'm considering Micro Center's roughly $750 bundle with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650E Max Gaming motherboard, and 32GB of G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5-6000 memory. Would this be a balanced setup for gaming, or would the CPU and other parts hold the graphics card back enough that I should have bought a cheaper GPU instead? There's also a bundle costing just under $200 more with a Ryzen 7 9850X3D, ASUS B850E TUF Gaming motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5 memory. Is the extra performance worth the added cost, especially since I still need to buy the case, power supply, storage, cooler, and other components?

The 7800X3D option looks like the sensible choice. The more expensive bundle could offer some additional performance and a newer upgrade platform, but the difference probably won’t justify the extra cost for a typical gaming system. If saving money is the priority, a cheaper bundle can also work, though some lower-cost platforms may give you fewer future CPU upgrade options.

The 7800X3D bundle is an excellent match for the 9070 XT, especially for a gaming-focused build. It should let the GPU perform properly without spending extra on a higher-end processor that may not make a noticeable difference in most games. Pair it with a reliable power supply around 800W and a decent tower cooler.

That combination should be more than enough for gaming. I’d prioritize a quality PSU and good airflow rather than putting the extra money into the newer CPU bundle.

Don’t forget to budget for thermal paste if the cooler you choose doesn’t include it. You’ll also need to account for storage, the case, and a strong PSU before deciding whether the pricier bundle fits your overall budget.

A cooler that includes paste is perfectly fine, so just check the package contents before buying a separate tube.
