Why Does Google Show a CAPTCHA Every Time I Search in Incognito Mode?

If Google keeps challenging nearly every search, using another search engine is a practical workaround. Some people find that switching services avoids the repeated CAPTCHA loop, especially when the problem continues across different devices and browsers.

Private browsing tends to trigger this more often because it starts with a clean browser session. If privacy mode isn’t essential for a particular search, regular browsing may produce fewer challenges. A fresh browser profile or a different browser can also help identify whether the issue is tied to the browser fingerprint.

This can happen even with a dedicated IP, so it isn’t always caused by the whole household or provider network. Browser extensions, unusual automated-looking traffic, or Google simply distrusting a new private session can all contribute. Trying a clean, non-private browser installation may avoid the CAPTCHA, although there may not be a permanent fix on your end.

Your internet provider may be using CGNAT, where many customers share the same public IP address. Incognito mode also removes cookies and other browser history that Google uses to recognize you, so your searches may look less familiar. Together, those factors can trigger more CAPTCHAs. Restarting the router usually won’t help if the public IP remains shared.

Check whether you’re using a VPN, proxy, or privacy-focused DNS service. Shared VPN and proxy addresses are frequently flagged because many people search through the same IP. Temporarily disabling those services can show whether they’re the cause.
