I'm currently using an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. It handles regular games well with DLSS and frame generation, but I've been playing more titles with path tracing and the base framerate and latency aren't where I'd like them to be. At 1440p, would moving to an RTX 5070 Ti provide a genuinely good path-tracing experience with DLSS and frame generation, or is the performance jump too small for the price? Should I keep my current card, or would I need to step up to something like an RTX 5080 or higher?

For 1080p or 1440p, I’d personally keep the 5060 Ti and wait unless path tracing is a major priority. The 5070 Ti can do it with upscaling and frame generation, but the current price premium is difficult to recommend. At 4K, even faster cards often need aggressive DLSS modes and frame generation to stay near 60 FPS.
There isn’t a universal answer to whether it’s worth it. Pick the games you care about, resolution, graphics settings, and minimum acceptable FPS first. If the 5060 Ti is making a game unplayable and the 5070 Ti crosses that line, the upgrade can make sense. If you’re only gaining a modest amount of already-playable performance, waiting for the next generation is probably wiser.
The RTX 5070 Ti can handle 1440p path tracing with DLSS, ray reconstruction, and frame generation. In demanding games, roughly 70–90 FPS is possible depending on the settings and CPU. However, current pricing makes the upgrade from a 5060 Ti hard to justify unless you can sell your existing card well or find a particularly good deal.
At 1440p, a 5070 Ti should be playable with quality DLSS and frame generation, but it will still rely heavily on those technologies in demanding path-traced games. An RTX 5080 gives you more breathing room; even then, path tracing is expensive and may require frame generation for high refresh rates.
For a meaningful upgrade, I’d probably skip the 5070 Ti and look at an RTX 5080 instead. The 5070 Ti is capable, but the performance increase may not feel large enough compared with the cost of replacing a 5060 Ti. Check benchmarks for the exact games, resolution, and settings you use before deciding.
In Cyberpunk at 1440p, an RTX 5080 can reach around 110 FPS on the benchmark with quality DLSS and 2x frame generation, so it’s more comfortable than a 5070 Ti for this use case.
