I built my PC a little over a year ago and I currently have a 500W power supply. I'm planning to buy an ARC B580 but I'm short on cash to upgrade my PSU right now. I'm torn between keeping my existing 500W PSU or using a 10-year-old Corsair CX600 from my dad's old computer. My main concern is that the old PSU might fail and damage my components. What do you think is the best option? I don't want to spend money on a new PSU immediately, but I might be able to in a few months. Here are my specs: R7 5700X, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (8GB x4), one M.2 1TB, one 2TB SSD, and a B550 motherboard. Thanks for any advice!

First off, what model is your 500W PSU? If it's a decent one from a reputable brand, you might be okay using it with the B580. However, consider manually setting the power limit on the card to avoid stressing the PSU too much. Regarding the old Corsair CX600, even though it's 10 years old, it might function well if it didn't have any issues in the past. But keep in mind, a failing PSU could potentially damage your components!
Honestly, I'd opt for the old Corsair over a cheap new PSU. Older ones can be safer than low-quality modern ones. If it has been reliable, it could be a good stopgap until you can get a new one.
Just go for a 1000W PSU and put all worries to rest! You'll have plenty of headroom for future upgrades too.
Yeah, I'd be cautious with that old PSU. A power supply can be a real risk if it breaks down.
