I'm building a system primarily for experimental development, machine learning, home lab work, and occasional gaming. Because of current memory prices, I can afford either 64GB of DDR4 with a Ryzen 9 5900XT or 32GB of DDR5 with a Ryzen 9 7900X. I'm hoping to keep the computer for at least five to seven years, so I'm wondering whether DDR5's higher bandwidth will become important as newer software is developed. For these workloads, is the extra capacity of 64GB DDR4 more valuable than the speed and newer platform of 32GB DDR5?
