My Lenovo laptop's built-in camera stopped working after several months of not being used. When I opened the camera today, it reported that the system couldn't detect any camera. What could cause this, and what should I check to get it working again?

Check the laptop for a physical privacy shutter or camera-disable key. On some models, sliding the cover also disconnects the webcam electronically, and certain function-key combinations can disable it. Look for a camera icon with a slash through it on the keyboard.
The camera module may have failed, or its internal flex cable could be loose or damaged. It’s also worth checking Device Manager to see whether the webcam is disabled or has a driver problem.
