My iPhone is no longer available, but my WhatsApp chat history is backed up to iCloud. I now have an Android phone and want to recover that data without access to another iPhone. Are there any legitimate ways to restore the iCloud backup directly to Android, or do I need an iPhone first? Unfortunately, WhatsApp’s iCloud backups can’t normally be restored directly on Android. The usual process requires an iPhone to restore the iCloud backup in WhatsApp first, followed by WhatsApp’s supported transfer process to Android. Be very cautious with third-party tools that promise to extract the backup, since many are unreliable or require access to sensitive account data.
The built-in transfer option is the safest route, but it usually involves restoring the backup on an iPhone and then transferring the chats to Android. If you can’t access any iPhone, the iCloud backup is effectively inaccessible from Android for now.
There doesn’t appear to be a legitimate way to pull an iCloud WhatsApp backup straight onto Android when you no longer have an iPhone. WhatsApp’s built-in chat transfer feature generally requires both devices to be available, so borrowing an iPhone temporarily may be necessary if the old chats are important.
