I'm planning to upgrade my Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti Gaming OC 8GB and want a clearly noticeable improvement at 1440p. My system has a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 memory, an ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F Gaming WiFi motherboard, an NZXT C850 850W power supply, and a 27-inch 1440p 170Hz monitor. I'm currently considering the Radeon RX 9070 XT, but I'm also open to NVIDIA cards or other options. Which GPU offers the best combination of performance, features, value, and compatibility for this setup? I'd especially like to hear from anyone who has upgraded from an RTX 3070 Ti to a newer card.

I made the same jump from an RTX 3070 Ti to an RX 9070 XT and have been impressed with the improvement. At 1440p it feels like a proper upgrade rather than a small step, and the extra VRAM is useful for newer games. Unless ray tracing, DLSS, or CUDA are priorities, I’d choose the 9070 XT.
The RTX 5070 Ti is probably the safer all-around NVIDIA option. It has much more memory than the 3070 Ti and offers strong performance at 1440p, while NVIDIA still has advantages in ray tracing, DLSS, CUDA, and some other software features. The main drawback is that it needs to be priced reasonably compared with the 9070 XT.
I upgraded from a 3070 to a 5070 Ti and have been very happy with it at 1440p. However, if the price difference is large today, the 9070 XT is likely the better value for a gaming-only build.
