Microsoft Teams is improving controls for identifying and blocking known meeting bots in the lobby, but newer tools such as Granola and Grain can record or transcribe meetings locally without joining as visible bots. How are organizations addressing the risk of unauthorized recordings and data leakage when both employees and external attendees may join from unmanaged devices?

Treat this as a broader data-loss and meeting-confidentiality issue instead of focusing only on recognizable bots. Use sensitivity-based meeting policies, limit access to highly confidential discussions, notify attendees that recording is prohibited unless explicitly authorized, and avoid sharing sensitive information with participants whose devices you cannot manage.
For unmanaged participants, this is mostly a policy and contractual problem rather than a technical one. Set clear requirements for meeting attendance, prohibit recording or transcription without consent, and include meaningful consequences in agreements with customers, partners, and contractors. Technical controls can reduce risk, but they cannot guarantee that an attendee's device is not recording.
