I recently installed Ubuntu alongside Windows. When I select Windows from the dual-boot menu, the Windows login screen says, "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN." Has anyone dealt with this, and can I fix it without losing my files?

This can happen when Windows gets confused by changes to the boot configuration or security settings. Try selecting the option to set up the PIN again and sign in with your Microsoft account password if Windows offers that choice. Your files should normally remain untouched.
It isn’t unusual after changing dual-boot or Secure Boot settings. If resetting the PIN does not work, use Windows recovery options to boot into Safe Mode or run Startup Repair. Avoid reinstalling Windows until you have tried those recovery methods, since the PIN issue alone does not mean your data is gone.
