HP Laptop Won’t Turn On Even Though It Shows Fully Charged

I bought this HP laptop new about two years ago. When I connect the USB charger, the charging light comes on and indicates that the battery is full, but the laptop itself won't power up at all. I've tried holding the power button, several reset combinations, and BIOS recovery shortcuts suggested by HP support, including Win+B or Win+V with the power button, Ctrl+Win+Shift+B, and Power+Esc. I don't have the tools to open it because the screw holes are extremely small, and the laptop is still covered by a warranty. Is there anything else I can safely try, or should I send it in for repair? I also have a Zoom meeting today.

The most likely fix would be disconnecting the internal battery and draining residual power, but that requires opening the laptop. Since you’re not comfortable doing that and the warranty is still active, it’s safer not to force the case open. Contact the manufacturer or warranty provider for service.

That’s what I was thinking too. I’ll probably have to send it in, since I can’t open it safely. Thanks.

Before sending it in, confirm that the USB charger and cable work with another compatible device, and check whether the laptop shows any lights, fan movement, or screen activity when you press the power button. However, since you’ve already tried the official recovery key combinations and still have a warranty, further disassembly or improvised repairs could risk damage and complicate the claim.

It charges through USB, and I still have the warranty. I’ve already tried the reset steps recommended by online guides and HP support, so I’ll likely use the warranty service.
