I'm trying to regain access to an old Apple Account. I know the account email address, password, and the credit card details associated with it, but Apple requires a two-factor verification code sent to a phone number I no longer have. I also don't have another trusted Apple device. The only device available is my MacBook, but I can't sign in to it because of the verification requirement.
I started account recovery and successfully provided my payment information. However, Apple says it will send recovery information to my old @icloud.com address, which I also can't access because I'm locked out of the account. What is the correct recovery process in this situation? Can I complete it using a different phone number, even though I can't access the old trusted number or iCloud email?

If you entered a phone number that you currently control during account recovery, the process may still work. It’s automated and the waiting period varies, but it can take several days or even longer. After the initial evaluation period—often up to 72 hours—check the recovery status again at iforgot.apple.com to see the next estimated date. When the waiting period ends, you may be able to finish the reset through the site using your new number, even if the notification text is delayed. Avoid changing account details or restarting the process while you wait, since that could cancel the recovery.
Apple Support generally can’t bypass two-factor authentication or manually shorten the automated recovery process. They may be able to explain the status and confirm that you’re following the correct steps, but the recovery system usually has to complete its waiting period. Keep checking the recovery page and follow Apple’s official account-recovery instructions carefully.
