Hey everyone, I've recently switched from an Intel CPU to an AMD setup and got myself a 9800X3D. I picked up an open box x670e MSI Tomahawk motherboard from Microcenter, but it wasn't reading my m.2 drive in the first slot. I returned it for a replacement, but I'm facing the same issue, which seems to be related to MSI's BIOS. I'm heading back to the store today to get another motherboard and have been told that ASRock might be a good alternative. I'm considering the B650, B850, and X870 boards, all around the same price. Can anyone tell me if there's any reason I shouldn't go for the X870 board? Here are the options I'm looking at: 1. B650 PG Lighting 2. B850 Riptide WiFi 3. X870 Pro RS WiFi

Just a heads up, ASRock has had some reports of issues with the 9800X3D, specifically with some boards killing the CPU. They claim it's a 1% chance, but still a bit risky. If you get the X870, make sure to update the BIOS before installing the CPU. With Microcenter nearby, returning the parts if they don’t work should be hassle-free.

I was gonna joke about going with anything but ASRock, but honestly, I get where you're coming from. After having two bad Intel CPUs and two mobo issues, you just want something that works! If the X870 is the same price and you don’t mind updates, I’d say go for it. It should provide solid performance with your new CPU.
