My RTX 3060 Ti reaches about 80–81°C while playing Resident Evil Requiem on high settings and around 77°C in Red Dead Redemption 2 on high-to-medium settings. At idle, it sits near 51°C. I bought the card in 2022 and have never replaced the thermal paste. My PC is also quite dusty both inside and outside, so I'm wondering whether these temperatures are normal or if I should clean and repaste the GPU.

Start with cleaning rather than opening the card. Use compressed air, hold the fans still while cleaning them, clear the case filters, and verify that your case fans are working and that the cables are connected securely. Room temperature and case airflow can make a noticeable difference. An idle temperature around 51°C can also be normal if the card’s fans stop at low temperatures.
Low 80s under a demanding gaming load is generally within the normal operating range for a 3060 Ti, so there’s no urgent reason to repaste it. However, 83°C is around where some NVIDIA cards may begin dropping to a lower clock-speed bracket, so cleaning the system and checking the temperatures afterward is still worthwhile. Dust out the case, GPU heatsink, and filters, and make sure the fans are spinning properly.
If the temperature remains higher than you’d like after cleaning, undervolting is a good next step. A conservative setting such as roughly 1900 MHz at 900 mV can reduce power consumption and heat while maintaining similar gaming performance, but test it with a demanding game or a stability tool and adjust if you see crashes. Repasting should be reserved for persistent high temperatures, a clearly degraded cooler, or if you’re comfortable disassembling the card.
