Gaming laptop stuck at 30–40 FPS after being unplugged

My HP Victus 15 normally runs my games at around 120–144 FPS, but after I unplugged it and played while on battery power, performance dropped to roughly 30–40 FPS in every game. Plugging the charger back in hasn't restored the usual frame rate. This has happened before, and I previously fixed it through the NVIDIA Control Panel's PhysX settings, but that solution no longer works. CPU and GPU temperatures are normal, so overheating or thermal throttling doesn't seem to be the cause. Windows is set to Best performance, and I haven't enabled any power-saving options. Has anyone dealt with this or knows how to restore the laptop's normal gaming performance?

Check HP’s own performance and power-management software rather than relying only on Windows settings. Gaming laptops can switch to a quiet or battery-saving profile when unplugged and sometimes fail to switch back after reconnecting the charger. Open HP Support Assistant, run the available performance and battery checks, and make sure the system is set to a performance-focused mode. A restart after changing the profile may also help.

I ran the performance and battery checks in HP Support Assistant, and that restored the normal frame rate. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
