Genshin Impact Shows a Black or Transparent Screen on CachyOS After GOverlay Changes

I'm running CachyOS with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, B550 motherboard, Intel Arc B570 GPU, KDE Plasma, and KWin Wayland. Genshin Impact worked normally for several weeks through both Steam and Heroic, using different Proton versions.

The problem started after I quit the game, opened GOverlay for the first time, let it install several components, performed a system update, and rebooted. Since then, Genshin launches with either a black screen and the in-game cursor or, depending on the compatibility tool, a transparent overlay that shows the desktop but doesn't respond normally. Initially I could still hear background music, but after trying various suggested fixes, only the cursor remains.

I tried removing or undoing GOverlay, MangoHud, and OptiScaler-related changes, although I don't remember every command I ran. I also verified and repaired the installation, reinstalled the game twice, deleted the Heroic prefix, removed the game folder manually, tested Steam, Heroic, and an anime game launcher, and experimented with environment variables. None of this fixed the issue.

Other games work, including Zenless Zone Zero, although it stutters somewhat. I'm not sure whether the cause is GOverlay, LSFG-VK, a damaged prefix, the Intel Arc driver setup, or something changed during the system update. What should I check next, and how can I completely remove any graphics or launch-tool configuration that might be affecting Genshin?

Check the launcher’s game logs first, since they may reveal whether the problem is a graphics initialization or prefix issue. You can also run `journalctl -f` in a terminal, start the game, and watch for an error that repeats or stops the launch. Since the GPU is relatively new, run `chwd -a` as well to make sure the appropriate CachyOS hardware and driver configuration is installed. A maintained launcher from the original developer may also be worth testing instead of repeatedly changing Proton settings.

GOverlay may have enabled an LSFG-VK profile for the game. Look for the LSFG-VK interface in your application launcher and remove the Genshin executable from any active profile. Also check your home directory for an `fgmod` folder and use its uninstall or removal script if present. Those leftover configuration files can affect every launcher and compatibility-tool version.
