Why is my Safari suddenly using Yahoo instead of Google?

I jumped on my MacBook today and noticed that Safari has switched from searching with Google to Yahoo, and it happened out of nowhere! I tried clearing the website data, but that didn't fix it. I'm starting to worry that I might have the Yahoo search redirect virus. Could anyone lend a hand with this?

Don't forget that you can change your default search engine in the Safari settings. Just select Google again if that's what you prefer!

Thanks for the tip! I managed to set Google as my default, but my private browsing still seems stuck on Yahoo and won't budge. Should I be worried about that?

I totally agree! Google usually offers better search results, but if you're concerned about privacy, you might want to look at switching to DuckDuckGo.

It sounds like you might have gotten the Yahoo search redirect from some software updates. Check out these steps to reset your search engine settings, or consider running Malwarebytes to scan for any unwanted software.
