I'm considering a new PC build and I've put together a list of components. Here's what I have so far:
- **Processor:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core for $479.00
- **CPU Cooler:** ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 (56.3 CFM Liquid)
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ATX AM5
- **Memory:** G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
- **Storage:** Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2 NVME PCIe 4.0
- **Video Card:** MSI SHADOW 3X OC GeForce RTX 5080 (16 GB)
- **Case:** Antec FLUX PRO ATX Full Tower
- **Power Supply:** CORSAIR RM1200x Shift Fully Modular ATX 80 Plus Gold (ATX 3.0, PCIe 5.0)
- **Monitor:** MSI MPG 271QRX QD-OLED 27" 2560 x 1440 360 Hz

I might end up going about $200 over budget, so I'm wondering what upgrades or changes I should consider if that happens.

Before making decisions, definitely do your homework. It sounds like there are some areas where you could save money. If it comes down to it, prioritize on the GPU if that’s your main concern. The RAM is another area you might want to check out—there are solid options out there that aren't RGB if that's a worry for you.

Yeah, I’m kinda leaning towards getting quality without the flash for the RAM.

Good point! I'm happy with black or silver RAM, aesthetics aren't everything!

Honestly, I think a lot of your choices are a bit overkill for what you need. For example, the liquid cooler might not be necessary; a solid air cooler can do just as well for way less cash. Also, your motherboard is pretty pricey—there are cheaper options that will give you the same performance. As for the Samsung SSD, while they’re great, you might be paying more than you need to. There are plenty of other NVME drives that provide excellent performance without the Samsung price tag. And about the power supply, 1200W is way more than you'll ever need; you could save money with a good 850W or 1000W instead.

Yeah, I hear you. Just thinking about future-proofing, but maybe I’ll look into other options for both the PSU and SSD.

I get what you mean about the PSU—it's definitely a big investment. What brands do you recommend for a solid 850W? I’m also wondering about alternative SSDs since I'm not set on Samsung yet. Would love to hear some suggestions!
