I'm looking to build a new gaming PC and I'm seeking advice on whether my selected components will handle 2K and 4K gaming well. My last build was in 2017 with a 1070Ti, but it's starting to show its age. Here's what I've picked out so far: G.Skill 32 GB DDR5-6000 RAM, WD Black SN850X 2 TB SSD, Intel Core i9-14900K processor, Corsair water cooler, Be Quiet case fans, Sharkoon RGB tower case, Corsair HX1200i power supply, ASUS TUF Z790-PRO motherboard, no operating system, and a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. Any suggestions for improvements or replacements would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Honestly, the 9800X3D outperforms the 14900K in gaming, and you might want to save some cash on RAM with similar specs. For cooling, consider a dual tower setup or a cheaper AIO cooler, as liquid cooling is a bit overrated. Also, a lower wattage PSU (like 850W or 1000W for extra room) would be perfectly fine, and there are better-priced options out there than the Corsair you picked.
Yeah, go with AMD and the 9800X3D. It’s cheaper and offers better gaming performance. Also, consider if you really need the 1200W PSU; an 850W would do just fine in most cases!
Thank you for the help!
I’d choose AMD over Intel for gaming any day. The i9 14900K is powerful, but both it and the motherboard are quite pricey. You can get a good B650 board for around 160€ and the 7800X3D for quite a bit less than the i9 while still getting similar gaming performance.
Thanks for the insight!
Your build will work, but I'd steer clear of Intel CPUs right now. They draw more power and run hotter compared to AMD's X3D CPUs, which are also getting better gaming performance. I'd recommend switching to the AMD 9800X3D for a cooler and more efficient system.
I think I’ll go for AMD!
Thanks for your input!
