What is that system info image on Linux desktops?

Hey everyone! I'm new to the Linux scene and recently installed Mint on a used Lenovo Thinkpad that I picked up for just £80. It's running smoothly, and I can even enjoy gaming on Steam! I've noticed that many users showcase their desktops with a square image that displays their system information next to the LM logo. I'm curious about what this is called and how I can get it for my own setup. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

What you're seeing is likely Fastfetch! You can install it easily using the command: `sudo apt install fastfetch`. It gives you a nice overview of your system specs and looks great on your desktop!

That image is generated by either Neofetch or Fastfetch. Neofetch used to be the go-to, but it's been deprecated in some distros, including Linux Mint. I know Neofetch is still available in Debian 12 though. Fastfetch doesn’t have the lag that Neofetch had, so it’s a solid choice if you can get it!

I wasn't aware that Neofetch was deprecated! Thanks for the heads up.

Fastfetch is definitely the way to go! It's way faster and looks cleaner.
