I've been having a tough time with my gaming PC. It froze up during a session, and now it just won't turn on. I've noticed that the yellow DRAM light on the motherboard sometimes lights up, and I occasionally get stuck on the BIOS setup screen or the GPU light. The furthest I was able to get was the BIOS, but it froze there too. I tried putting in my old 2x8 DDR4 RAM, reset the CMOS by removing the battery, but nothing's worked. Is it possible that my motherboard is dead? For reference, here's my setup: RTX 5080, ASUS ROG STRIX B450F, 2x32GB DDR4 3600 MHZ KINGSTON FURY, RYZEN 7 5700X3D, and an 850W COOLER MASTER power supply.

I’d say it’s more likely your motherboard than the CPU. Plus, your CPU could be bottlenecking that RTX 5080. You might want to consider upgrading to a 7800X3D or 9800X3D when you can, along with a B650 motherboard and some DDR5-6000 RAM to really unleash the power of your graphics card.
Based on the changing motherboard lights, it’s likely that your motherboard is the problem. It happens sometimes, especially if it’s showing multiple indicators of failure.
Is there any way to check if the motherboard is causing the issues without swapping components?
