Is it Easy to Transfer SSDs to a New PC?

I'm upgrading from my old setup (9400f with a 1660ti) to a new build (7600x with a 4070). I've got two 1TB M.2 SSDs—one came with my prebuilt and I'm not sure what generation it is, and the other is a Gen 4 SSD that I installed myself. I know I can use older PCIe generations in newer slots, but can I just move these SSDs over to my new computer and expect all my files and data to transfer over smoothly?

You might encounter some hiccups doing a straight swap. In my experience, it's better to start fresh, especially to avoid potential data corruption. Luckily, your Gen 4 drive should perform better than the OEM one, so definitely consider installing your OS on that for a smoother experience!

Yeah, you can definitely swap the SSDs into your new PC. Just keep in mind it may not work perfectly since the CPU and drivers will be different, so it might take some tweaking to get everything running well.

I did the same thing with my drives! Just moved them into my new build, and everything worked fine. Just a heads-up, though—you may need to reactivate Windows. I didn’t have to, but others have run into that issue.

It really depends. Are you planning to boot from the old drive, or do you want to do a fresh Windows install? Switching it over might complicate things a bit if you’re trying to use it as-is.
