I'm a big fan of Vite and Evan Yu, and I'm excited about the roadmap for Void(0). However, I keep wondering about their funding since they are VC-backed. VCs typically aren't in it for charity, so I'd like to know if there's a strategy for generating revenue that has been shared. Has anything been announced about this yet? Thanks!

There’s also buzz about providing remote JavaScript development environments. That could offer real value and make it attractive to companies.
In their initial blog post, Void(0) mentioned that everything will remain open source. However, they plan to develop an end-to-end JavaScript tooling solution aimed at enterprise needs. It seems they could potentially generate revenue by creating paid tools or providing premium support on top of their open-source offerings.
Honestly, it’s mostly speculation at this point. I think they might pivot to professional services. The idea could be to establish a stronghold in the tooling market, and once everyone's onboard, they can start offering consulting on optimization and similar services. Historically, FOSS software hasn't been a huge money-maker unless it's linked to some services outside of the core offering.
Right? Just look at Vercel; it’s not just about open-source. There’s definitely an opportunity for Void(0) to compete in that space too.
I've heard they might be trying to directly compete with Nx. Based on some visuals shared in the community, they’re aligning with similar goals to carve out their niche.
From what I gather, they might focus on hosted services for builds and hosting solutions, which would definitely be a revenue stream. It seems like a solid approach given current market trends.
But what exactly does that imply? Take Next.js, for instance; it’s open-source but really complicated to run independently, which often leads people to opt for paid hosting instead. Does that mean Void(0) will also make it difficult enough to run that using their service becomes a necessity?
