Is Upgrading My GPU Enough, or Should I Consider a CPU Upgrade Too?

Hey everyone! I have an RTX 2800 Ti, an Intel i7 9700K, and 32GB of RAM (can't recall the exact speed, but it was decent back then). I'm thinking about upgrading to either a 5070 or a 5070 Ti but I'm unsure if my CPU will hold me back. I primarily game at 3440x1440 and do some light media editing. If I need a CPU upgrade, I might stick with the regular 5070 instead. Do you think my current CPU will bottleneck the performance? Thanks for your insights!

Resolution plays a big role in performance. I paired my 9700K with an RTX 4090, but I game at 4K where the load is more on the GPU. At your resolution, while the i7 is still solid, it might max out during intense gaming sessions.

I'd recommend going for the 5070 Ti. Even if it does bottleneck slightly, you'll still enjoy better performance than your current setup.

Honestly, at 3440x1440, your i7 seems sufficient for most games. I had my 9700K running at 100% in some titles, but if you're mostly gaming and not doing heavy multitasking or editing, you might be okay.

Make sure to check your PSU. A high-quality 850W should handle upgrades well, but it's good to know that before diving in.
