Is it Safe to Buy a Motherboard and GPU Without Warranty?

Hey folks! I'm looking to purchase a motherboard and a graphics card from Germany using the tax-free option and I need some advice. Specifically, I want to know if ASUS offers international warranties for the products I'm considering. Here are the details:

- **GPU**: ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 OC for around 1,600€ (tax-free approximately 1,400€)
- **Motherboard**: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero for about 620€ (tax-free around 550€)

Do you think these prices are fair? Also, I'm curious if issues with motherboards and GPUs are frequent enough that I should be worried about buying them without a local warranty. I've heard CPUs typically don't fail much, but I'm unsure about the reliability of GPUs and motherboards. Would you take the risk for a 32% savings?

Honestly, your choice seems overpriced for what you get. The Hero model costs way more than some alternatives that can give you similar performance without breaking the bank.

That’s fair! I did look at a different model, the X870E-E Gaming WiFi, but since the price difference was small, I decided to go for the Hero. I didn't realize how much I was increasing the budget as I went along.

I think ASUS might not be the best option due to warranty concerns. It's tricky without a local warranty, especially for high-end gear like this. Have you checked other brands? They might offer better support.

I get your point, but from what I’ve heard, ASUS has a decent reputation for durable high-end components. What experiences have you had that say otherwise?
