Is the 5060 Ti a Worthy Upgrade from the 1660 Super or Just Overhyped?

I'm looking to upgrade my old 1660 Super because I've realized it's struggling with newer games, especially with the new DOOM dropping soon. I've been considering the 5060 Ti, but I've come across a lot of negative reviews and opinions about it. Is it really a bad choice, or is it just being compared unfavorably to the more premium cards out there? I'm on a bit of a budget – I want something that's decent and can handle new games for the next couple of years without needing to max out all settings. If the 5060 Ti is not the way to go, what other affordable alternatives should I consider? I really don't want to throw away €500+ on something underwhelming. Thanks for any thoughts!

Honestly, the 5060 Ti is actually pretty decent if you can get it for MSRP. It competes well when you compare it to other overpriced cards on the market right now. If you focus on the 16GB version, you're likely to be satisfied with its performance for several years, especially coming from a 1660.

Right! Just avoid the 8GB version at all costs. It's not worth the headache with modern games.

The 16GB model generally gets a thumbs up, as it can handle the modern titles quite well without performance dips. I've seen a lot of the negativity stemming from how the 8GB variant was hidden from reviewers initially. If you can snag the 16GB for a good price, it’s really not a bad choice, especially over the older cards.

Exactly! The 16GB will serve you better with upcoming games that demand more VRAM.

You shouldn't feel bad about switching to the 5060 Ti 16GB from a 1660. It’s a solid upgrade for that price point! Just be wary of the PSU requirements and make sure you've got the right connectors.

Yeah, upgrading from a 1660, the 50 series is going to feel like night and day for your gaming experience.

If you can hold off, I would suggest looking into AMD alternatives like the upcoming 9060 or even used cards like the 6800 XT. They might provide better value than the 5060 Ti if you find a good deal.
