Help! My CPU is Overheating – Any Ideas?

Hey everyone, I recently upgraded my system, and I'm having some trouble with my CPU temperatures. The first few times I booted up, the CPU was hitting dangerously high temps. I've already replaced my AIO cooler, but I'm still facing the same overheating issue. I'm starting to worry that there might be a problem with my pump. Just to give you some specifics, I'm using a Cooler Master ARGB 240 cooler and plugging the AIO pump into the sys_fan_pump header on my Gigabyte X650 motherboard. Could my connections be the issue, or do you think my motherboard could be faulty? If you want to see more about my setup, feel free to check my previous post on my profile. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer!

It sounds like there might be an issue with how your cooler is mounted. If your CPU is reaching 105°C in the BIOS, that's a big red flag. Often, this means the AIO isn't making proper contact with the CPU. It could be that there's an air gap, which is not letting heat transfer effectively. Just like an air cooler, your AIO needs to be properly seated or it won't do its job. When I had similar issues, I found that reseating the cooler with fresh thermal paste helped a lot. Just a thought!

That’s a good point! I suggest checking if there's a good spread of thermal paste when you take it off again. You might also want to make sure that the mounting mechanism is secured properly. Sometimes it just takes a little adjusting!
