Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2070 Super, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM, and an RM 650 PSU. This rig has served me well for 1440p gaming, but I just got an LG C4 42-inch 4K TV and want to optimize my gaming experience. I've noticed that my performance in the new game I'm playing, Monster Hunter: Wilds, isn't great—especially at 1440p, where I need to rely on frame generation to maintain smooth gameplay, and I still see dips below 60fps occasionally. I'm debating whether to upgrade my components while staying with AM4 or to save up for an AM5 setup instead. I'm envisioning an upgrade that includes an RX 9070 XT, a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, another 16GB stick of the same RAM (for a total of 32GB), and a Corsair RM 850 PSU, all for about £1000. However, an AM5 system I've considered would cost around £1800. Do you think sticking with AM4 and upgrading would keep me gaming well at 4K for a few years, or should I just invest in an AM5 build now? Thanks for any advice!

I think sticking with AM4 for now is a solid choice. The upgrade path you mentioned should keep you competitive for at least a couple of years in 4K gaming. If you're only spending around £1000, that’s a reasonable investment rather than jumping to AM5 right now.
Your current setup should be fine for 4K, especially with the proposed upgrades. But honestly, the AM5 transition might be worth considering in the long run. Even the basic AM5 CPUs outpace the 5700X3D, so you might find the overall performance boost making games run smoother in the future. Just be aware of prices, though! You shouldn’t have to spend an extra £800 for an AM5 system—it should be more affordable than that!
Totally agree! Plus, you're getting a new GPU, which will help a lot. Just consider how future-proof you want your build to be.
Yeah, if you can wait a bit before transitioning to AM5, you might even catch better deals later!
