Help! My Windows 11 PC is Unresponsive After Login

Hey everyone,

I woke up yesterday, booted up my PC running Windows 11, and found that it was completely unresponsive after I logged in. I couldn't open the start menu by clicking the Windows button, and neither Ctrl+Alt+Del nor Ctrl+Shift+Esc worked at all. I did manage to get the start menu open using my keyboard, but clicking anything with my mouse was futile.

I tried rolling back to a previous restore point, but that didn't help. I also turned off the PC and unplugged all connected devices, but the problem persisted. Today, I managed to boot into safe mode and disabled Steam from starting up, which seemed to help temporarily.

However, I encountered issues when trying to open CMD; I received an error that "wt.exe is not accessible." After some tinkering, I was able to run an SFC scan and a DISM health restore, but I'm still facing problems. When I tried accessing settings, I got errors saying "WUP.exe is not available" or that it can't be found.

I'm really stressed about this because I have crucial projects on my PC that I need to send out ASAP. Any suggestions? Am I running out of options? Thanks a million!

Sorry to hear you're dealing with this! First things first, I'd recommend backing up your important files using a live OS like Hiren's Boot CD or even a Linux distro such as Ubuntu. Once you've secured your data, you can try restoring your system to a previous backup point or doing a startup repair. If all else fails, a clean install of Windows might be the best option. It's a hassle, but it'll definitely fix any underlying issues! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Would the "reset this PC" feature in Windows safe mode be a workable solution, or is that not recommended?
