I'm graduating with a Bachelor's in Computer Science and a minor in Psychology this December, and I have a strong interest in UX/UI design. I enjoy understanding user needs and finding ways to translate that into programming. In a recent class, we built a social media website using React for the front end, which really piqued my interest in UX/UI. I want to pursue work related to both UX/UI and front-end development, but I'm unsure about my next steps. Should I start building my own projects? Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated!

I totally get where you’re coming from! I also prefer front-end work because the visual feedback is immediate. It's great that you're thinking about merging your coding skills and user understanding. You’re right that the job market feels tough right now, but getting involved in projects and building a portfolio can definitely help.
UX/UI and front-end can overlap, but they are different roles. Some designers only create wireframes, while others code as well. To excel in UX/UI, you should understand user testing, accessibility, and how to design with guidelines like Google's Material Design. Knowing a front-end framework like React is crucial, but basic back-end knowledge could help too.
