What Do I Need for My First Gaming Development Setup?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to get started with a gaming code course and I feel like I need to set up my home environment for doing homework and projects. I'm totally new to this, so I'm wondering what kind of PC I should get. I want to create something like a mix between a multiplayer game like Poppy Playtime and Animal Crossing, which I've heard can be quite demanding. What specs should I look for? Does the quality of my monitor matter, and do I need a super fancy keyboard? My goal is to learn the basics of game development within a few years, and I want to invest in something that won't need upgrading right away. Any advice on what I should buy so I can handle all the storage and performance needs? Thanks!

To give you solid advice, it would help to know what hardware you currently have. Sometimes, a decent laptop is all someone needs to start. If you’re just working on coding and not heavy graphics right away, maybe you can work with what you have for now and upgrade later. Also, do you have any specific budget in mind?

I only have a laptop that doesn't connect to the Internet, so I'm starting from scratch here.
