Hey everyone! I recently built a system with a PNY 5090 and am really happy with the performance. However, I'm noticing that idle temps hover around 50 degrees Celsius, occasionally creeping higher. This is partly because my fan profile keeps the fans off until I really need them, like when gaming or using 3D software. While I've managed to keep in-game temps under control—peaking around 60 degrees after undervolting—I'm concerned about whether these higher idle temperatures could affect the GPU's lifespan in the long run. I'd love to keep this card functioning for at least six years, considering how slowly GPU performance seems to advance and the high prices. Should I tweak the fan curves to bring those idle temps down?

Honestly, 50 degrees at idle is totally fine. Short bursts at higher temps can be damaging, but prolonged idle at 50 isn’t an issue. Most modern GPUs don’t even kick on their fans until a certain temperature, so you’re good!
Idling below 60 degrees is within the spec for GPUs. If you're still concerned, consider tweaking the fan settings a bit, but seriously, you’re doing fine!
Your idle temps sound perfect to me! I have a 3090 that idles around 55 degrees, and your numbers are pretty close. You won’t have any issues at those levels. Just keep an eye on it!
Your idle temps look alright! Just out of curiosity, what are your ambient room temperatures? That could play a role in how your GPU performs.
You're in perfectly fine territory—50 degrees idle and 73 under max load is nothing to sweat about. GPUs are designed to handle those temps without issue.
My room is usually around 22 degrees Celsius, so that might explain it!
