Help! My Radeon RX 6800 Won’t Work with My Secondary GPU Connected

I'm having trouble getting my Radeon RX 6800 to work properly when I connect my secondary GPU, an MSI Radeon HD 7790 OC. My PC specs are: Ryzen 7 3700X, MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max motherboard, 32GB of T-force RAM at 3200MHz, a Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 drive, and a Corsair RM850 PSU.

Here's my plan: I want to set up a dual boot where the RX 6800 is used when I'm on Arch Linux and the secondary GPU only runs when I'm using Windows 10. I believe I need to adjust some settings in the MSI Click BIOS 5, but I can't find the option to switch between the two GPUs.

The issue I'm facing is that only the HD 7790 seems to display properly, even though both GPUs appear to be getting power (their fans spin). The RX 6800 only works when I remove the secondary GPU from the system entirely. I'm looking for any tips or solutions to get this setup to work!

The issue with your secondary GPU, the HD 7790, is that it's quite old and lacks driver support. Even if it’s plugged in, Windows might not recognize it as a usable display adapter, which explains why you're facing display problems with the RX 6800 when both are connected. Your setup seems a bit tricky given the age of the secondary GPU—it's primarily meant for retro display resolutions, so it might not work seamlessly like modern GPUs. Maybe focus on getting just the RX 6800 to output correctly, and rethink how you want to configure the old GPU.

I appreciate the insight! The HD 7790 is older on purpose since I need it for specific resolutions to play retro games on a CRT TV. But I see your point about the driver issues.
