I'm curious if a 12-year-old's Apple account can have a separate password while in a family sharing setup. It seems like they wouldn't need one until turning 13, right? I'm also wondering if Family Sharing is actually useful or just a pain. I'd love to hear about your experiences!

Yes, every Apple account has its own password. My kids, aged 12, 10, and 5, don’t know theirs yet. They can still download apps easily because it sends a request to me or my wife for approval first. I find it useful to have the 'ask to buy' feature on, which helps manage what they download without giving them direct access to their passwords yet.
Awesome! Thanks for clarifying that. So, it sounds like using the family sharing with the child account is a good option then? We're considering setting it up before my kid turns 13, but I want to avoid any hassles later.
