While replacing my motherboard, my Ryzen 7 5800XT came out of the socket attached to the cooler, and several pins were bent. I managed to straighten most of them, but two pins broke off when I tried to move them back into place. I know AMD's warranty generally excludes physical damage, but I've seen people say their replacement requests were still approved. The initial RMA request has already been accepted, so I'm wondering how likely it is that AMD will actually replace the processor and whether anyone has advice or similar experience. I'm on a tight budget and would have to downgrade significantly if I had to buy another CPU.

The warranty language usually gives AMD grounds to reject it because bent or missing pins count as physical damage. Since the RMA was initially approved, you can still send it in and see what happens, but the final inspection is what matters. It’s ultimately a gamble.

That’s what I’m planning to do. I was mainly hoping to hear from anyone who had gone through a similar situation and had advice for the process.
