Are you sure you downloaded the app with the same Apple ID? Sometimes it can get tricky if you switch accounts. If you changed your Apple ID from GMX to Gmail, that could be the reason you can't update your apps. You need to be logged in with the same Apple ID that was used to download the apps in the first place. Try checking that out!
