So, my dad bought a diagnostic tool for his car from AliBaba. When it didn't work, he reached out to their support and was told to download a TeamViewer link from an XTool website to update the firmware. Not knowing much about TeamViewer or the suspicion behind AliBaba, I went along with it. After downloading, I realized it was a TeamViewer APK and got worried it might be malware. I quickly uninstalled the file, unplugged the tool, and ran full scans with Malwarebytes and HitmanPro. But now I'm left wondering, is that enough? Are there any risks associated with TeamViewer that those programs might miss? I've searched my PC for anything related to TeamViewer and checked Task Manager, but I'm still uncertain if I'm truly safe.

If you're really concerned, consider reinstalling Windows just to be safe. But since you uninstalled the APK within minutes and no one else had access, you might not need to take such drastic action. Keeping your software updated and regularly scanning your PC can help ease your mind.
TeamViewer itself isn't considered malware and typically doesn't get flagged by antivirus or anti-malware programs. As long as you uninstalled it quickly and haven't shared access with anyone, you should be fine. Just keep in mind, TeamViewer does allow remote access, so if it was on for a brief period and no one else accessed your PC, you’re probably in the clear. But if it was active for longer and you provided access, it could potentially hide something, so stay vigilant!
