I currently work in software development, focusing mainly on C#/.NET, and I mentor interns and junior staff at my job. I've discovered that I really enjoy mentoring and want to continue doing it in my free time. I just need some guidance on how to start—like are there any forums or platforms where I can promote my mentoring services? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated!

You're already ahead of the game by enjoying mentoring! To kick things off in your free time, I'd suggest starting small. First, use your existing network—let your friends or LinkedIn connections know you're offering casual mentoring. Many early-career developers are quietly looking for guidance!

There are also platforms like MentorCruise, which allows you to charge a fee and set your own focus areas, and ADPList, which is a free way to connect with mentees worldwide. Just remember to be clear about how much time you can offer and what your mentoring style is like. You don’t need to wait to feel fully prepared; even helping just one or two people can have a big impact. Good luck!

I think the easiest way to start is by finding local community programs that focus on youth mentoring. If you like helping out, teaching kids or young adults can be rewarding and really impactful to their lives. Look for opportunities in your area—they’re often seeking mentors with your experience!

There's a platform I stumbled upon recently that connects mentors, but I can't recall its name at the moment. I'll update this comment once I remember it. In the meantime, just know there are definitely options out there to help you get started!

You could check out melixir.org where you can mentor curated interns! It’s a great way to make a difference as their interns aren’t just the average ones. Signing up as a contributor there could be a solid way to help out and gain some experience mentoring others.
