Hey everyone! I'm wondering if it's possible to set up DeepSeek to access real-time information, like current news updates. For example, on June 4, 2025, when I asked the bot what day it was, it told me June 5, 2024. This makes me think that the developers might not have updated it recently, or perhaps I'm not using it correctly. Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

You sure picked an interesting date to ask about!
I recently posted here looking for DeepSeek users to test a framework I created. It seems to work well with most LLMs and could help with structured queries. You might find something useful there if DeepSeek has the right tools for searching the web.
If you're running DeepSeek from your own server, you could add custom search tools to crawl real-time data, giving you more control.
Just a heads up, June 4 is a sensitive day for the Chinese government. This might be why the bot was evasive about the date. If you dig deeper and ask about historical events from that day, it may refuse to answer. It's unfortunate, but AI can sometimes sidestep these kinds of topics.
You can actually activate a web search feature! Just ask, "What day is it today?" and it should respond with the correct date. I tried it out and got an accurate answer. 😊
Yeah, I gave it a shot too and it worked better on my phone. On my PC, I got a 'server busy' error. Still, this is definitely the feature I was hoping for!
Glad it helped! The mobile app seems to have fewer issues.
Exactly! Setting it up this way might allow you to process real-time info more effectively.
