I'm experiencing some frustrating slowdowns on my PC since I decided to install a cheat for an online game. I'm running Windows 11 Home and my specs are as follows: Ryzen 7 7700X CPU, NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU, 32GB RAM, a 750W PSU, a 2TB HDD for primary storage, and a 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD mostly for games. After running the cheat, which was flagged by my antivirus, I fully removed some malware, but the performance hasn't improved. It's gotten to the point where I have to restart my PC multiple times to keep it usable. I'm considering a factory reset, but I'd rather not if I can avoid it since reinstalling everything would be a hassle. Any advice on what I could try before going that route?

Have you thought about doing a system restore? If you can roll back to a point before you installed that cheat, it might solve your performance issues without needing a full reset.
It sounds like that cheat might have left some malware lingering in your system, especially in the registry. I’d recommend using Malwarebytes to run a thorough scan. It's known for catching stuff that other antivirus programs might miss. If it finds anything, removing that could help restore your PC's speed!
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give Malwarebytes a try.
Honestly, a clean install on your NVMe SSD could alleviate a lot of these speed issues. HDDs are generally slower, so I would recommend using that as secondary storage rather than your primary drive. A fresh install on the SSD should speed things up significantly.
Good point! I should definitely consider moving everything to the SSD.
I haven't tried that yet, but it sounds like a good plan.
