Is it time to fully upgrade my PC or should I stick with AM4 and DDR4?

Hey everyone! So, I recently encountered an issue where my PC just wouldn't turn on, and after some troubleshooting, it looks like I had to upgrade my motherboard (mobo) and CPU since my old setup was too outdated for the new CPU I purchased. I ended up getting an AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT with an MSI MAG B550 motherboard, along with DDR4 RAM I got on discount. Initially, I thought about just replacing what was broken, but now I'm wondering if I should go for a full upgrade to DDR5 and an AM5 setup for future-proofing. However, I just bought a house, so my budget is pretty tight. I have about two weeks to return my new parts if I decide to upgrade further. What's your advice? Should I stick with what I have or make the leap to the newer tech?

Honestly, with your new house expenses, I’d recommend sticking with AM4 and DDR4 for now. There's still plenty of life left in that setup unless you're doing something super demanding. Future proofing can be overrated, and most games will run fine on your current gear without bottlenecking, especially if you're gaming at 1080p. Save your cash for upgrades when you really need them!

I think you should consider returning your current setup and go for a DDR5-compatible combo instead. There are some great motherboards that come with bundled DDR5 RAM, and they’re not too much more expensive. It might cost a little bit more upfront, but could save you from needing yet another upgrade down the line.

That's actually a pretty solid idea! Getting better tech for a bit more makes sense, especially since I'm already in upgrade mode.
