Troubleshooting Random M.2 Disconnects While Gaming

Hey everyone! I'm really in a bind here and need some help. For the past few weeks, I've been having this frustrating issue where my M.2 SSDs randomly disconnect while I'm gaming. The only fix I've found is to restart my PC, but the problem keeps coming back during gameplay. This started about 3 to 4 weeks ago; it initially happened just once a week but has escalated quite a bit since then.

I've already tried a few fixes: switching the M.2 slots, installing a new SSD while removing the old ones, clearing the CMOS, reseating everything in my build, undervolting my CPU, and turning off DOCP on my RAM.

Here's my build in case it helps:
- RTX 4080
- Asus B650-A motherboard
- 32GB T-Force 6200 DDR5 RAM (2x16GB)
- Ryzen 7800X3D
- Corsair 850W Gold PSU
- Samsung 980 Pro 1TB
- Samsung 990 Pro 1TB (this one is new)
- Silicon Power 512GB M.2

Also, I've been getting these error messages in the Event Viewer:
- The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort2.
- Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort2, was issued.
- An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR2 during a paging operation.
- {Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file A:\. The data has been lost. This error might be due to a hardware failure or a network issue.

I'd appreciate any insights or suggestions! Thanks a ton!

It sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting! Since you've swapped M.2 slots and tried multiple SSDs, it might be worth checking if there are issues with the motherboard itself or possibly a driver problem. Have you updated your motherboard BIOS and drivers recently? Sometimes, new updates can fix these kinds of issues. Also, double-check your power connections to the SSDs; they might be loose or faulty.

Yeah, it seems like a complex issue. If the M.2 drive disconnects regardless of the slot or SSD in use, I'd suspect the motherboard might be the culprit. Have you checked the Event Viewer for logs when the disconnect happens? The errors you mentioned could be hinting at a failure in that area. Also, try running a stress test on your PC to see if the problem persists under load. If it does, it might be worth reaching out to the motherboard manufacturer for support.
